Fr Bernard ,Founder of Pompei College passed away
Pompei College Aikala February 4 : Mangalore, Feb 4: Fr Bernard L DSouza (70), parish priest of Tannirbavi church, Mangalore, passed away on the night preceding February 4.
Fr Bernard, during his earlier posting at Bijai, had founded and built the Lourdes Central School. He was Principal of the Pompei institutions in Kirem, Aikala earlier. He will be remembered as the founder of Pompei College. It is sad to lose him just 20 days before our planned Silver Jubilee of the Pompei College on 25th February 2006.
Born on March 11, 1936 as son of Basil DSouza and Mary Pinto, he was ordained a priest in Mangalore on December 3, 1962.
He was suffering from ill health over the past few years.
His funeral rites are likely to be held at Bijai church at 4 pm on Sunday, February 5, subject to confirmation.
