PARTING MESSAGE FROM FR VALERIAN MENDONCA
My dear members of the Pompei Family spread across the world, and well-wishers and benefactors of Pompei College,
Greetings to all of you for a blessings-filled New Year of health and happiness.
As I conclude my responsibility as the Principal of Pompei College on December 31, 2007 on superannuation, as per the government regulations, I wish to thank each and every one of you for your kind cooperation, affectionate concern and generous assistance extended to me during the past four-and-a-half years as Principal. I must tell you that I have enjoyed every minute of this short stay over here. The 31st of December 2007 will be a Thanksgiving Day for the bountiful blessings showered by the Lord through our Pompei Mother, the patroness of the institution. My stay here was eventful and joyful, with the Silver Jubilee of the College, the NAAC Accreditation, the commencement of the B B M Course, the starting of the Midday Meal Scheme, the beginning of the Campus Recruitment by the MNCs, and many other curricular and co-curricular activities, all for the good of our students. The various projects of the college like Basic Accountancy Course for the Final Year B. A. students, the Communicative English Course for the Final Year B. A. and B. Com. students, the Industrial Accountant Course by Institute of Computer Accountants and the like have boosted the morale of the college. We have tried our best to maintain Pompei as a college with discipline, hard work, academic and value education. The reward has been great. The campus-recruited students of Pompei are already working for multi-national companies with adequate salaries. It has been our endeavour to produce employable graduates. I feel confident that the computer-literate and adequately-skilled graduates of Pompei will shine like stars in the globalized world of today and become the ambassadors of Pompei throughout the world.
Whatever achievements we have enjoyed, have been the fruit of the cumulative labour of love of our Management, Students, Staff Members, Parents, Alumni/ Alumnae, Well-wishers and Benefactors. It has been proved by our students that even a rural college, like Pompei, can stand up with dignity and self-respect. Our students have proved that, with determined hard work, they too can stand the competition in the job market of the corporate world. “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high – into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake!” (Rabindranath Tagore).
My gratitude to every one of you does not find adequate words for expression. However, I would like to thank you whole-heartedly for your loving concern for Pompei. May God bless the New Principal who is to take charge on the New Year Day to take Pompei to greater heights of excellence and glory with your generous cooperation.
