Dear Alumni/ Alumnae and Friends of Pompei,
Greetings of peace from Pompei College, Aikala.
We have fresh good news to you for the new academic year 2007 - 2008 As desired,
the Lord has blessed us with permission from the Government of Karnataka for starting the B. B. M. (Bachelor of Business Management)
Course in addition to the existing B. A. and B. Com. Courses.
I am sure that all of you will be happy that a long-cherished desire of the college has come true.
The permission was granted on May 26, 2007. Two new Lecturers have been appointed to the
Commerce Department. Adequate infrastructure has been prepared for the purpose.
The Course will commence on June 18, 2007 and will be formally Inaugurated by His Excellency the Bishop of Mangalore on June 23, 2007.
We start the new academic year with new hopes: we hope that the most, if not all,
of the students who appeared for the University Examinations will come out with flying colours.
We have identified about 75 needy students to be served free midday meals during the current
academic year. The Computer Center offers 3 relevant courses.
The Spoken English Course will be offered to the students as an optional supplement.
Similarly, the Basic Accountancy Course for the B. A. students will be an added facility.
We are delighted to inform you that two of our students, namely Deborah D'Souza, III B. Com.
and Sushma Shetty, III B. A. were successful in the Campus Selection by Genpact
and have already been employed in Bangalore with attractive salaries even before the results of the Final Examinations have been announced. We fondly hope that many more will equip themselves for job-placements soon after their graduation.
We remain grateful to all of you for your good will towards the institution. We rely on your helping hand to continue to help the needy, feed the hungry and help our students in making them employable graduates.
